- Law enforcement authorities are initiating legal proceedings against Mette-Marit's offspring.
After allegations of physical harm directed towards Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit's son, Marius Borg Høiby, authorities have upgraded the charges against the 27-year-old. Beyond initial claims of assault and property damage in early August, Høiby is now suspected of issuing threats during a phone conversation with the same individual, as per a statement from the police regarding the case progression. In a statement last week, Høiby confessed, in writing, to engaging in violent behavior towards his girlfriend under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, as well as causing damage to her apartment's belongings.
Høiby's legal representative, Øyvind Bratlien, communicated to the "Aftenposten" newspaper that Høiby has yet to address the new accusations. Høiby is scheduled for police interrogation next week, with charges of assault, property damage, and threats looming over him. Moreover, police allege that Høiby is implicated in a moped theft case.
Former girlfriends have also brought up claims of violence against Høiby, although these accusations have not been incorporated into the current charges. Police are currently investigating these situations as potential instances of domestic abuse, with Høiby not yet identified as a suspect.
Høiby is Mette-Marit's son from a past relationship, albeit not an official member of the royal household. He was apprehended in Oslo on August 4 on suspicion of assault and property damage, and was subsequently released the following day.
