Renewable energies - Largest solar park complex opened in Baden-Württemberg
Due to a merger, energy companies EnBW, Thuga Erneuerbare Energien and Stadtwerk Tauberfranken have opened the currently largest solar park complex in Baden-Württemberg. The solar park Gickelfeld in Külsheim (Main-Tauber-Kreis) consists, according to EnBW statements, of two parts, for which a common infrastructure such as grid connection, transformer station and cable trench was built.
The installation reportedly has an installed capacity of 68 Megawatt. According to EnBW, this could theoretically supply power to around 24,000 households with solar power. The solar parks would be operated without subsidies under the Renewable Energy Act (EEG).
"The energy transition is a major societal project," said EnBW board member Peter Heydecker in a statement. "Efficiency and profitability in projects are indispensable for its success." Through partnerships and the joint use of infrastructure, synergies could be created.
Environmental Minister Thekla Walker (Greens) looked at the climate protection goals of the state and called it a "paradigm shift example" of how something great can be achieved through joint action. The park will give the expansion figures in the solar sector another push and is thus an important sign for the people in the country: "We are on the right track, together we can achieve our goals."
- The merger between EnBW, Thuga Erneuerbare Energien, and Stadtwerk Tauberfranken led to the construction of the largest solar park complex in the Main-Tauber district, specifically in Külsheim.
- As part of this project, an energy company like EnBW Energy Baden-Württemberg contributed to the construction of a shared infrastructure for the two sections of the solar park Gickelfeld.
- Thuga, as a part of EnBW, is actively involved in promoting renewable energies, contributing significantly to Baden-Württemberg's mission of transitioning towards a greener energy sector.
- The successful operation of this solar park without subsidies provides a promising example for other energy companies, demonstrating that renewable energies can be both profitable and environmentally friendly in Baden-Württemberg.
