Lackmann company recalls glass jars with embedded truffles in Europe
The Lackmann Meat and Delicatessen Factory is recalling glass jars with cultivated Edible Mushrooms (Lactarius deliciosus) in Europe, due to a risk of poisoning. According to the company, these are "cut and pickled" mushrooms with the minimum shelf life date of 20.05.2025, production date: 20.11.2023, EAN-Code: 4250370593657. The mushrooms were mainly sold in Russian shops, according to a company spokesperson.
The mushrooms may cause a serious food poisoning (Botulism), which can be life-threatening, warned the company. Few hours after consumption, symptoms such as beginning paralysis, blurred vision, double vision, light sensitivity, swallowing difficulties and dry mouth may appear. Paralysis may progressively affect the respiratory and heart muscles. Early symptoms may be: headaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.
People who develop such symptoms within 36 hours after consumption should seek medical attention immediately and mention the suspicion of Botulism, the company advised.
Customers who have purchased the mushrooms can return them for a refund without a receipt to the relevant stores. Lackmann specializes in Russian culinary products.
The affected Edelreizker-Mushrooms, linked to the poison risk, were primarily sold in Russian shops by the Lackmann Company. Individuals who have glasses and experience symptoms like headaches, diarrhea, or vomiting within 36 hours after consumption should consider it a potential sign of Botulism and promptly seek medical attention.
