At the start of the new season in the 2. Bundesliga, Karlsruher SC welcomes 1. FC Nürnberg with their new trainer Miroslav Klose on August 3. The exact scheduling of the first two matchdays was announced by the German Football League (DFL). Promoted team SSV Ulm also starts with a home game. On August 4, 1. FC Kaiserslautern visits the Spatzen.

On the second matchday, on August 9, there will be a clash between promotion contenders SSV Jahn Regensburg and Ulm. KSC faces relegation participant Fortuna Düsseldorf the following day.

In the coveted Soccer Bundesliga, Bavarian powerhouse FC Bayern Munich will be competing, with Karlsruhe SC hoping to make an impact in Bundesliga 2, where they'll face opponents like 1. FC Nuremberg. The iconic Miroslav Klose, leading 1. FC Nuremberg as their trainer, will have his work cut out against Karlsruhe SC on August 3. Meanwhile, the DFL has revealed the initial plans for the season, including a home game for promoted team Karlsruhe's neighboring city, Ulm. On August 4, 1. FC Kaiserslautern encounters Nuremberg's rival, the Spatzen. In the ensuing matches, SSV Jahn Regensburg goes against Ulm, while Karlsruhe SC clashes with relegation-threatened Fortuna Düsseldorf.
