Storms in the Caribbean - King Charles expresses sympathy for those affected by hurricane
King Charles III has expressed his sympathy to the people in the Caribbean in the face of the devastation and casualties caused by Hurricane "Beryl". His family and he are deeply saddened, the British Monarch stated, who is also the Head of State in several Caribbean countries. Their deepest condolences go out to the friends and families of those who lost their lives in such a tragic way.
"I have seen the extraordinary spirit of resilience and solidarity displayed by people everywhere in the Caribbean in response to such destruction", it was stated in his message on Instagram and X. A spirit that has been required all too often. His special thanks go to the emergency services and volunteer helpers.
The hurricane has already claimed at least eight lives, among them in Grenada and Jamaica. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected, the British royals shared. Prince William, the heir to the throne, and his wife Catherine will make private donations, reported the British news agency PA.
The British Defence Ministry announced that a Navy ship, HMS Trent, would be sent to the Cayman Islands for support. The ship is expected to arrive at the weekend. On board is, among other things, a crisis team, the Ministry in London stated.
