Kiev Promotes Second Peace Summit with Moscow Participation
A peace conference for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is scheduled for June 15th and 16th in Switzerland. Various prominent political figures are anticipated to attend. At present, Russia isn't included on the invitation list; however, Union authorities are optimistic that Russia may receive a nod during the next summit.
Ukraine is apparently aiming for Russia's involvement in a follow-up peace conference for Ukraine. Following the approaching summit in Switzerland, the head of the Ukrainian presidential administration, Andrij Yermak, communicated from Berlin that he's prepping for a potential broad peace settlement by "collaborating with all our colleagues from countries eager to engage."
Yermak went on to express the necessity of creating a shared strategy, saying "a common plan" should be formulated, "backed by honest nations." He indicated participation from over one hundred countries across all corners of the globe. "We're exploring the chance of inviting a Russian delegate to the next conference and presenting this shared strategy together," he added.
This summit will be held at Bürgenstock, a chic resort in Switzerland, following a meeting involving the heads of state and government from the G7 alliance in Southern Italy. Zelenskyy has been confirmed as a visitor at that meeting too. He'll head to Switzerland on Saturday.
The Swiss meeting was arranged per Ukraine's request to garner worldwide support for its terms to end the war with Russia. Although Russia expressed previous lack of interest and subsequently wasn't invited, Ukraine remains hopeful for their involvement.
