Katjes takes majority in cereal flakes manufacturer mymuesli
The Duesseldorf confectionery company Katjes is taking over the majority stake in the Passau muesli start-up mymuesli. The subsidiary Katjesgreenfood increased its stake from 10.1 percent to 56 percent on Thursday, according to the company.
Part of the fresh capital came to mymuesli, part of it were shares taken over from existing investors. Those who gave up their shares were not disclosed initially. The Katjesgreenfood might possibly refinance the money through the capital market. The company had already issued a listed bond for the acquisition of the British gluten-free bakery Genius.
The Hamburg SME investor Genui had entered MyMuesli in 2016 with around 40 percent of the shares, while the three founders held the rest. About a year ago, Katjes had acquired 10.1 percent. In 2021, MyMuesli was reportedly valued at around 250 million euros by insiders in connection with stock market plans. However, nothing came of it.
After acquiring an additional 46% stake, Katjesgreenfood now controls a majority share in mymuesli, the breakfast flakes manufacturer. As a result, Katjesgreenfood now holds over half of the company, significantly influencing its future direction.
