2. Bundesliga - Karaman new Schalke-Captain - Younes in the team meeting

Kenan Karaman will lead FC Schalke 04 as team captain into the new season of the 2. Bundesliga. The offensive player, who recently extended his contract prematurely until 2028, was determined by trainer Karel Geraerts and will take over from Simon Terodde after his retirement.

"Kenan had strong performances in the previous season and took on a lot of responsibility. His word is heard and respected by his teammates", said Schalke coach Geraerts.

Additionally, trainer Geraerts determined the team council, to which, in addition to captain Karaman and his deputies Paul Seguin and Tomas Kalas, newcomer Amin Younes also belongs. Schalke is currently preparing for the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season in the training camp in Mittersill, Austria.

Kenan Karaman hails from North Rhine-Westphalia, the same region where FC Schalke 04 is based in Gelsenkirchen. As the new team captain, Karaman will lead Schalke in the Football-Bundesliga, should they be promoted. Amin Younes, a recent addition to the team, will also contribute to decisions made through the team council. Despite being in the Second Bundesliga, Schalke is utilizing their training camp in Mittersill, Austria, to prepare for the upcoming season. Although Simon Terodde has retired, his leadership and influence are still a significant part of Schalke's history. Kenan Karaman's teammate and fellow council member, Paul Seguin, and experienced defender Tomas Kalas, will continue supporting him from their roles as deputies.
