US-Presidential candidate - Just like the biggest mosquito in the world
On Twitter, a video is circulating of a supposedly private phone call between Robert F. Kennedy and US Presidential candidate Donald Trump. In it, Trump describes the moment of the attack, which missed him: It sounded like "a giant... the biggest mosquito in the world".
The video starts with Trump expressing skepticism about vaccinations. Trump claims he's seen babies change radically after vaccinations. He doesn't elaborate and it's unclear where Trump's medical expertise comes from.
Robert F. Kennedy is a nephew of the 1963 assassinated US President John F. Kennedy in Dallas. Trump's conversation partner has positioned himself as an anti-vaxxer in the Corona-Pandemic and claims the middle class should be wiped out through the lockdown. It's likely they're talking about vaccinations – Kennedy barely speaks up.
Trump offers the independent presidential candidate Kennedy a place in his team: "It would be great for you. And we will win." Kennedy's spokesperson has denied that he could drop out of the presidential race.
Donald Trump praises call from Joe Biden
Surprisingly, Trump speaks positively about Joe Biden's call after the attempted attack: "It was very nice."
The original video Kennedy had X deleted. Instead, he now writes: "When President Trump called me, I was taking a video call with an internal video producer. I had instructed the cameraman to stop recording immediately. I'm embarrassed that it was leaked. I apologize to the President." Trump survived the attack on Saturday only narrowly, the ex-President was lightly wounded by a bullet near the ear. At the convention, he was welcomed back with great applause and officially nominated as the Republican Party's presidential candidate.
Despite the leaked telephone call about the attempted assassination, Donald Trump commended Joe Biden's post-attack call, stating, "It was very nice." Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the US Presidential candidate's conversation partner in the video, has distanced himself from the incident, stating that he instructed his cameraman to stop recording during the call.
