Judge determines date for Bannon's incarceration.

Steve Bannon, the ex-chief strategist for Donald Trump during his time in the White House, has been ordered to serve a four-month prison sentence, starting in July. This comes after he didn't show up when summoned to a congressional committee looking into the Capitol riot and was subsequently found guilty of contempt of Congress. Despite the looming sentence, Bannon remains adamant, declaring that "nothing can silence me" and refusing to back down. He's currently considering taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court.

Bannon, who's 70 years old, was convicted back in October 2022 over the Congressional investigation into the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riot. At that time, he refused to follow a subpoena demanding his appearance and related materials. His appeal process ended with a court rejecting his plea four weeks ago. Bannon still has the option to delay the start of his punishment.

While speaking in Washington, an unrelenting Bannon expressed his defiance, stating, "There's nothing that can silence me, and there's nothing that will silence me." He clearly doesn't believe any prison would be able to stop him and claims to have a strong legal team to help him out. Additionally, he's sure that Trump will triumph in the upcoming presidential election.

Bannon's legal troubles stem from his response to the subpoena issued by the congressional group exploring the Capitol riot. He also refused to provide documents connected to his participation in Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

Another Trump aide, Peter Navarro, has been serving a four-month sentence in Florida after being convicted of contempt of Congress. Navarro, a senior advisor, holds the title of the highest-ranking former government official linked to Trump's failed attempt to change the 2020 election outcome.

In addition to Bannon and Navarro, Trump himself is under indictment for playing a part in influencing the election in two cases – one before a federal court in Washington and the other by Georgia's justice system. It's uncertain when either trial will happen. Trump intends to take on Biden again in the presidential election on November 5th.

Bannon was instrumental to Trump's successful 2016 presidential campaign and later functioned as his chief strategist in the White House. However, he was sacked by Trump in August 2017. The two have since maintained contact, with Bannon also frequently interacting with far-right European groups.
