"Jeopardy!" Will Be Released on Amazon Prime with a New Twist
Amazon's Prime Video has acquired a "Pop Culture Jeopardy!" spin-off, the first time the iconic game show has created an exclusive version for a significant streaming service. This new version of "Jeopardy!" will feature teams of three and maintain its signature "answer-and-question" format. The show's categories will delve into the world of pop culture, ranging from music to sports, Broadway, and celebrities like Zendaya.
The host for "Pop Culture Jeopardy!" hasn't been named, according to Amazon's latest statement, which will be announced at a later time. The show will be produced by Michael Davies, who has been a part of the TV version of "Jeopardy!."
No specific release date was mentioned, but the show will be available exclusively on Prime Video, which boasts over 200 million global subscribers.
This isn't the first time the quiz show has taken a spin to the streaming world; a "Sports Jeopardy!" edition was launched a decade ago on Sony's streaming service Crackle but was later removed.
Amazon has been investing heavily in its streaming platforms, including Freevee. In 2023, the firm spent around $19 billion on video and music expenditures, a 14% increase compared to 2022. To compensate for this, Prime Video introduced ads this year, requiring viewers to choose between an ad-supported plan for free or a $2.99 monthly fee for an ad-free version.

Amazon's investment in advertisements on Prime Video is a strategic move to attract more business partnerships and sustain its growth in the competitive media streaming market.
