Japan's oldest person to die at the age of 116
The Japanese woman Fusa Tatsumi, who was considered the oldest person in the country, has died at the age of 116, according to media reports. The Japanese news agency Kyodo reported that the cause of death was old age, citing an official from the city of Kashiwara.
She had last lived in the city in Osaka Prefecture. Japanese newspapers also reported on her death.
Tatsumi was born in 1907. According to the reports, she was officially recognized as Japan's oldest person since April last year, following the death of a 119-year-old Japanese woman in Fukuoka.

The title of Japan holding the record for the oldest person in the world for over a year is now vacant, with the passing of Fusa Tatsumi, who held the title at 116 years old. Despite living in Osaka Prefecture in her later years, Tatsumi hails from the historically significant age group, being born in 1907, making her the oldest person in 'japans' during her time.
