James Corden declares final chapter of 'Gavin and Stacey' series.

The popular British sitcom "Gavin and Stacey" will air its concluding episode during the holiday season, as revealed by James Corden, its co-writer and actor, on Friday.

James Corden declares final chapter of 'Gavin and Stacey' series.

"Exciting news everyone! The creators James Corden and Ruth Jones have announced they've completed writing the final episode of the hit series Gavin and Stacey," Corden shared on Instagram. "We'll be seeing you on Christmas Day on BBC One."

Joanna Page, who portrays Stacey Shipman, expressed her enthusiasm on the social media platform as well, saying "Oh my goodness, it's happening!! I'm so excited! Last ever Gavin and Stacey... Can't wait to start filming!"

This popular show premiered in 2007 and continued for three seasons until 2010. It's known for telling the story of Gavin, a young man living with his parents in Essex who meets Stacey, a spirited woman from Barry in Wales.

Gavin and Stacey's lives are brought together by their love for each other, and the series is complete with a colorful cast of characters they both know and love, including Corden and Jones portraying Gavin's best friend, Smithy, and Stacey's best friend, Nessa.

The show's Christmas special which aired in 2019 saw tremendous success, reaching an audience of 18.5 million viewers - the largest single episode of any comedy program in the UK since records started in 2002 according to the BBC.

The two-part episode will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Christmas Day.
