"I grew up in Middletown, Ohio," the 39-year-old said at the Republican Convention in Milwaukee on a Wednesday evening (local time). "In a small town where people spoke their minds, worked with their hands, and loved their God, family, community, and country with all their hearts." However, it was also a place that had been pushed aside and forgotten by the "ruling class of America in Washington."

Vance spoke as in his bestseller "Hillbilly Elegy" about his difficult family relationships and thanked his mother, who was present in the room, for the great applause. Through his life story, Vance portrayed Donald Trump as the man who could solve the problems of people from humble backgrounds - in contrast to the democratic incumbent Joe Biden.
