Italy may consider incorporating Westinghouse and EDF into its prospective endeavors for constructing nuclear power plants.

Italy might be contemplating incorporating American energy giant Westinghouse and French utility EDF as collaborators in a project to establish a fresh lineup of nuclear power stations. The Italian administration intends to construct a blueprint for utilizing nuclear power by the year's end, as per the energy minister's statements.

Nuclear energy has been outlawed in Italy since referendums held in 1987 and 2011. However, the nation continues to boast a strong understanding of nuclear technology. Italian energy conglomerate Enel, under government control, oversees nuclear power plants in Spain, while Italian energy company Eni participates in a project to create a nuclear fusion reactor. Neither Westinghouse nor EDF provided an immediate response.

The potential collaboration with Westinghouse and EDF could significantly influence Italy's proposed construction of a new lineup of nuclear power stations, as outlined in the minister's blueprint. Despite the ban on nuclear energy, Italy maintains a robust expertise in nuclear technology, as evident in Enel's management of nuclear power plants in Spain and Eni's involvement in a nuclear fusion reactor project.
