Food - Italian salami recalled due to salmonella

Due to a possible Salmonella contamination, Italian Salami brand "Rewe Feine Welt" with the name "Salame Felino" in the 80-gram packaging has been recalled. Only the product with the minimum shelf life date between 14.07.2024 and inclusive 21.07.2024 is affected, according to Gabel Distributing Company from Lünen, Germany.

During a routine quality control check, Salmonella was detected in the product. A health risk cannot be excluded. Anyone who has purchased the corresponding product can return it without a receipt and get their money back.

Salmonella infection manifests itself within a few days after infection with diarrhea, abdominal pain, occasional vomiting, and mild fever. Infants, young children, seniors, and people with weakened immune systems are more likely to develop severe disease progression.

  1. The recall includes Salami Felino salami from Rewe Feine Welt, which is a popular choice among German food stores like Rewe.
  2. This situation has sparked concern among health officials in Lunen, Germany, as the affected salami is often used in various dishes, such as sandwiches and sausages.
  3. It's recommended that consumers avoid consuming Salame Felino Salami from the impacted batch, especially individuals with underlying health issues or pregnant women, as they may be more susceptible to Salmonella.
  4. German authorities are urging consumers to be vigilant and check the packaging details of their Italian Salami, as the health hazard posed by Salmonella in contaminated Salame Felino products can lead to serious consequences.
