- Israeli army reports airstrike in Gaza city
The Israeli Air Force has reportedly struck a Hamas command center in a school building in the northern Gaza Strip overnight. According to Israeli statements, terrorists were hit in the attack. Unconfirmed Arabic reports suggest that over 100 people were killed and dozens injured. The Israeli military stated early morning that the Hamas command center was located in a school adjacent to a mosque, which served as a shelter for Gaza City residents.
The Israeli military did not provide casualty figures in its Telegram statement. It mentioned that "numerous measures" were taken before the attack to minimize civilian risk, including the use of precision ammunition. The Hamas, it said, had been using the building as a hideout for terrorists and commanders, from where attacks against Israeli troops and the state of Israel were planned and prepared.
The Israeli military again stressed that Hamas systematically violates international law by operating from civilian residences. It was further stated that civilians are being used as human shields for their terrorist activities.
