Middle East war - Israeli army calls on Gaza residents to leave the city
The Israeli army has called on all residents of Gaza to leave the city in the northern Gaza Strip. "The city of Gaza remains a dangerous combat zone," it read on flyers dropped over the city. All residents were urged to move towards "safety corridors" in the southern direction to shelters.
Fighting in Gaza, "most intense in months"
A few days ago, the army announced that it was continuing its "Anti-Terror Operations" against Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza. Residents reported "explosions and numerous firefights" as well as helicopter attacks on southwestern neighborhoods. According to the armed wing of the Hamas ruling Palestinian organization in Gaza, the fighting was "the most intense in months."
The war in Gaza was triggered by an unprecedented attack by Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups on Israel on October 7. According to Israeli reports, 1195 people were killed and 251 taken hostage in the Gaza Strip. In response to the attack, Israel has been conducting massive military operations in the Gaza Strip since then.
60% of Hamas fighters neutralized
According to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's statements before the Knesset, the Israeli military has neutralized 60% of the Hamas fighters. The Israeli military has also reportedly destroyed the majority of the 24 battalions that the armed wing of the radical-Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas had at its disposal at the start of the war. Gallant made these remarks in a speech before the Israeli Parliament.
Despite the Israeli army's efforts to evacuate residents from the northern Gaza Strip, fighting between Israel and Hamas continues in the Gaza Strip. The intensified clashes, as declared by Hamas's armed wing, have resulted in the neutralization of 60% of their fighters, according to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
