Israel urges residents to evacuate Chan Junis

The day after a devastating air strike in the city of Gaza, fighting continues in other parts of the coastal strip. Residents of Khan Yunis are told to move to a humanitarian zone. The Israeli army appears to be preparing a new operation against Hamas.

The Israeli army has called on residents of a northern neighborhood in Khan Yunis to leave the area immediately and move to a humanitarian zone, whose borders have been redrawn. The army conveyed this information to residents via SMS, phone calls, Arabic-language media reports, and leaflets. Khan Yunis is located in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israel accuses militant Palestinians of exploiting the humanitarian zone for "terrorist activities and rocket attacks on the State of Israel." Therefore, the borders of the humanitarian zone are being adjusted. This is based on precise intelligence information indicating that the Islamist terror organization Hamas has embedded its infrastructure in the area. The aim of the warnings is to avoid harm to civilians, the army said in a statement.

Many residents flee repeatedly

Israel's military has been fighting Hamas militia groups that have regrouped in Khan Yunis for weeks. The Palestinian population often gets caught in the crossfire. The frequent evacuation orders from the Israeli military usually drive thousands of people to flee. Many of them are forced to move repeatedly to supposedly safe areas. According to UN figures, 80 percent of the 2.4 million residents of the Gaza Strip are displaced.

On Saturday, there was a devastating Israeli air strike on a school building in the city of Gaza, which was said to be housing terrorists. According to Palestinian reports, dozens of people were killed. A spokesman for the Hamas-controlled Palestinian Civil Defense said at least 93 people were killed in the building, which was being used as a refugee shelter.

The incident sparked international outrage and criticism. The Israeli military confirmed the attack, which targeted a Hamas command center located in the targeted building. At least 19 Hamas and Islamic Jihad commanders and fighters were killed. The army also believes with "high probability" that a senior Jihad commander was present in the school building.

The United Nations has urged The Commission to investigate the alleged war crimes committed during the air strike on the school building in Gaza, which resulted in civilian casualties. The Commission must look into the use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes by Hamas and ensure accountability for any violations of international humanitarian law.

In response to the escalating tensions, The Commission has called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, stressing the urgent need to protect civilians and uphold international human rights laws.
