Israel initiates another round of assaults on designated Hezbollah sites.
The Israeli military declared a strike on a residential area in a bustling Beirut suburb, Lebanon, as per their statement. Among the casualties are a high-ranking leader from the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia, along with females and children. It appears there's no end in sight to the Israeli aggressions.
Post the demise of a significant figure within the pro-Iranian Hezbollah military force, Israel announced continued attacks on the militant group's bases in Lebanon. "The Israeli military is currently bombarding sites linked to the terrorist organization Hezbollah in Lebanon," the military claimed in a statement. Yesterday, Israel alleged to have slain at least 16 Hezbollah fighters, including the commander of the elite Hezbollah unit Radwan, Ibrahim Akil, in a southern Beirut suburb, as reported by both Israeli and Hezbollah sources.
The militia reported the passing of another high-level commander today, Saturday. Besides Akil, Ahmed Mahmud Wahbi, who spearheaded the Radwan unit's military operations in support of the radical Islamic Hamas from October 7 to the beginning of the year, was also claimed dead in the Israeli airstrike in the southern part of the Lebanese capital.
As per the Israeli military, at least ten more high-ranking commanders were reported dead in the airstrike on Friday in a southern Beirut suburb. The army asserted that the Hezbollah commanders were congregated "secretly in the core of a residential neighborhood" during the time of the attack. However, Hezbollah contradicted this by stating on Saturday that 31 individuals perished.
"Hezbollah had plans to invade Israeli territory"
Furthermore, army spokesperson Daniel Hagari also stated that the commanders killed were part of planning operations involving anti-tank missiles, rocket attacks, and the contrived invasion of Israeli territory. According to Hagari, Akil and the other Hezbollah commanders slain in the attack had prearranged an attack on northern Israel, intending to infiltrate Israeli communities and slaughter unintended civilians.
Hamas launched an attack on southern Israel last October, sparking the Gaza Strip conflict. As per Israeli reports, at least 1,205 individuals were killed and 251 were taken captive in the Gaza Strip. According to Hamas, which cannot be corroborated independently, over 41,000 people had been killed during the Israeli retaliation in response to the attack.
Since October 8, Israel's north has been under repeated fire from Hezbollah, which is affiliated with Hamas. Israel retaliates with counterattacks in Lebanon. As a result, tens of thousands of individuals on both sides of the border have been displaced since then.
In light of these ongoing conflicts, there are growing concerns about a potential 'War with Israel' between Israel and Hezbollah. The militant group has accused Israel of targeting its civilian areas and high-ranking commanders, with Israel defending its actions as counter-attacks against Hezbollah's military operations and alleged plans for an invasion of Israeli territory.
