Gaza War - Israel: Hamas will hide the fate of military chief
According to Israel's air strike on the military chief of the Islamist Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the terror organization is trying to keep his fate a secret, according to the Israeli army. "It's too early to draw conclusions from the strike that the Hamas is trying to hide," said Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi. The army attacked Mohammed Deif at Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Saturday. Dozens of people were killed in the attack. It is unclear whether Deif was killed or injured.
"It's hard to believe that someone survived the attack," former head of the research department of the Israeli Military Intelligence Yossi Kuperwasser told the "Wall Street Journal." It could still take days or weeks for Israel to gather enough information to definitively say what happened to Deif. The Hamas never confirmed Issa's death after Israel's air strike on him two weeks earlier.
A Hamas representative in Beirut denied on Sunday that Deif had been killed. The Hamas brigade chief is often referred to as the "Phantom." He is said to have survived at least seven Israeli attacks. Therefore, Israel must be particularly careful to determine if Deif was killed this time, said Kuperwasser. A photo of his body would be more convincing than intelligence information. Deif is the deputy leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yihya al-Sinwar. Israel's goal is to capture or kill both of them.
- Despite the air raid on Mohammed Deif, the Islamic Resistance Movement, better known as Hamas, has been attempting to conceal his fate in the ongoing conflicts between Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and Israel.
- The GazaFence, a barrier constructed by Israel to prevent attacks from Gaza, has been a subject of contention in the broader context of conflicts and tensions between the Palestinian territories and Israel.
- The Israeli military launched an air raid on the military chief of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, marking another instance of the long-standing conflicts between the Islamic Resistance Movement and Israel.
- The leadership of Hamas, including the deputy leader, Yihya al-Sinwar, and the elusive Mohammed Deif, continue to pose a significant threat to Israel, fueling the ongoing wars and tensions in the region.
