Israel denies Hamas' claims of bombarding ICRC installations.

In an unidentified gunfight close to offices of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the southern region of Gaza, as per ICRC reports, over 20 individuals have met their demise. A total of 22 people were transported to a makeshift hospital, following heavy-duty shell explosions nearby the ICRC office and neighboring residential structures, the organization mentioned on their online platform on Friday evening. The Israeli military denies allegations that they are responsible for the conflict.

As per the ICRC, the shells landed only a meter or two from their office and neighboring houses. Over 300 Palestinian refugees reside in tents in the region near the ICRC office and the hospital managed by the organization.

These locations are clearly recognized by the warring parties, adorned with the Red Cross symbol, the organization added. Incidents like these, near humanitarian installations, pose a threat to the lives of civilians and staff. There are also additional reports of casualties.

Initially, the ICRC refrained from pinpointing the origin of the gunfire from Friday. However, they did acknowledge a serious security incident. Previously, stray bullets have also caused damage to ICRC infrastructure.

On the other hand, the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry alleges Israel to be responsible for the shooting. It was stated that the Israeli army attacked tents of displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area. Two dozen people were found dead and 50 were injured as a result. Prior to their offensive in May, Israel declared the coastal township of Rafah, 10 kilometers from the city, a "humanitarian zone."

Israel denies these accusations. An Israeli army spokesperson informed news agency AFP that the "initial investigation reveals no evidence of an attack" by the army in Al-Mawasi. The incident is still under investigation.
