Israel and Germany Defence Ministers meet

Israel's military remains on high alert - awaiting Iran's and its allies' retaliatory strike.

Escalation in the Middle East - Israel and Germany Defence Ministers meet

Israeli Defense Minister Joav Galant spoke with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius about the tense situation in the Middle East. Galant described the conversation as "an important discussion with my friend." He informed Pistorius about "security developments and threats from Iran and its allies against Israel and the entire region." Galant thanked the German minister for standing by Israel. "The free world must unite against the greatest troublemaker and exporter of terror - Iran," Galant's office quoted him as saying.

The Israeli military broadcaster reported that Galant had spoken with the defense ministers of the US, UK, Germany, and Italy in recent days. The aim was to "recruit as many partners as possible for an international coalition that would support Israel."

A spokesman for the German Defense Ministry said in Berlin on Wednesday that the conversation between Galant and Pistorius was about the situation. No concrete results were achieved.

Currently, the Israeli military is on high alert. The country expects retaliation from Iran and its allies in the region. Tehran had threatened "harsh punishment" for Israel after the political leader of the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was targeted and killed in the Iranian capital last week. Iran and Hamas blame Israel for the attack.

Just hours earlier, Israel killed a high-ranking Hezbollah commander, Fuad Shukr, in airstrike in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. The Shia Hezbollah militia is one of Iran's most loyal allies.

Israel can count on the support of the US and other allies in intercepting Iranian and its proxy groups' missiles, cruise missiles, and drones with modern defense systems. There are no known plans for German involvement in defending Israel in such an attack.

Following the tensions in the Middle East, the Israeli Defense Minister Joav Galant discussed the situation with his German counterpart Boris Pistorius, highlighting the security developments and threats from Iran and its allies. Despite the conversation, no concrete results were achieved in Berlin as reported by the German Defense Ministry spokesman.
