Iran calls in four envoys from Europe following recent sanctions impositions
After recent Western sanctions, Iran convened the German and three other European ambassadors. These diplomats from Germany, the UK, France, and the Netherlands were called into the Foreign Ministry following European nations imposing sanctions and delivering "unhelpful comments," as reported by the state news agency IRNA.
The Western nations, including Germany, France, the UK, and the US, imposed new sanctions on Iran due to its alleged delivery of ballistic missiles to Russia. Among those hit by the sanctions is Iran Air, the nation's state-owned airline.
Separately, the Netherlands invited the Iranian ambassador after receiving reports suggesting arms shipments.
On Thursday, the Foreign Ministry openly criticized these latest destructive actions and remarks from European representatives, according to IRNA's further reporting. It asserted that persisting in these positions and actions is seen as an extension of the West's hostile stance towards the Iranian populace.
Iran denies having provided weapons to Russia for use in the conflict in Ukraine, and has vocalized its intent to retaliate against the new sanctions.
The UK also summoned the Iranian envoy in London and issued a warning that it should anticipate a "strong reaction" if it continues exporting missiles for use against Ukraine.
The new sanctions imposed by Western nations, such as Germany, led to the suspension of services for Iran Air, the nation's state-owned airline. Recognizing these latest sanctions as an extension of the West's hostile stance, Iran has vowed to retaliate.
