Iran: Agreement concluded to purchase Russian fighter jets
According to the government, Iran has reached an agreement for the purchase of Russian fighter jets and helicopters. Deputy Defense Minister Mehdi Farahi was quoted by the Iranian news agency Tasnim with corresponding statements. According to the report, the Islamic Republic is purchasing Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, Mil Mi-28 combat helicopters and Yak-130 training fighter jets. Russia and Iran have recently intensified their military cooperation. The Iranian air force only has a small number of combat aircraft, including older US models that were acquired before the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
The military cooperation between Russia and Iran has led to an agreement for Iran's purchase of Russian fighter jets and helicopters, including Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets and Mil Mi-28 combat helicopters. This purchase, as reported by Tasnim, also includes Yak-130 training fighter jets, which will enhance Iran's air force capabilities. Despite the report, Russia has not yet publicly confirmed the agreement.
