Investigators are actively searching for a suspect connected to multiple homicides and carjackings in Oklahoma, who was last seen in Arkansas.
Suspect Stacy Lee Drake, 50, is thought to be in Morrilton, Arkansas, where a vehicle authorities claim he stole was found on Tuesday night. He was recently spotted on foot outside a motel in Morrilton, as per a statement from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
Drake is wanted for linking up with some grisly homicides and carjackings in Oklahoma, and also has a slew of other felony warrants from various areas, including aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder, according to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
A man and woman were found shot dead around 6:30 pm local time on Tuesday at a business close to State Highway 64 and South 4670 Road in Gans, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation made the announcement in a statement. Gans is a small town in eastern Oklahoma, around 16 miles from the Oklahoma-Arkansas state border.
Both victims suffered injuries that matched those caused by homicides, the release stated. The two victims were transferred to the Office of the Oklahoma Chief Medical Examiner for identification and to establish the cause and method of their deaths, according to the bureau.
OSBI investigators began examining the scene and identified 50-year-old Stacy Lee Drake as a key character in the case. Earlier on Wednesday, Arkansas DPS stated in a statement that Drake was wanted for involvement in three homicides, but later updated their statement to say he was wanted for multiple homicides. OSBI told CNN that Drake is a person of interest based on the info their investigators managed to gather. Tuesday night, authorities found a vehicle believed to have been stolen by Drake around 124 miles away in Morrilton, Arkansas, according to OSBI. Arkansas authorities have been hunting for Drake ever since.
Drake is thought to have purchased camping equipment in Morrilton and authorities believe he is still in the area as of Wednesday afternoon, as per the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.
The Arkansas State Police advises the public to be careful as Drake is suspected to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who encounters Drake should not approach him and should call 911 immediately.
Drake, who last resided in Birmingham, Alabama, is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He stands at 5'11" and weighs 185 pounds, according to information from the Arkansas DPS. Authorities are urging anyone with knowledge of Drake's whereabouts or details relevant to the case to contact them.
