Approximately 1500 individuals faced charges following the January 6, 2021, intrusion at the Capitol.

Intruder who stormed initial Capitol building receives prison sentence for several years.

In January of 2021, numerous fans of ex-President Donald Trump gathered outside the Capitol. It was Michael Sparks from Kentucky who ended up being the first to break into the congressional building, motivating numerous others to join him, as stated by a police officer. Currently, Sparks is serving a sentence handed down by a court.

A 46-year-old man, identified as the initial intruder to enter the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021, unruly demonstration by Trump supporters, has been sentenced to approximately 4.5 years in prison. A judge in Washington assigned a 53-month prison term and a fine of $2,000 (approximately 1800 Euros) to the accused, Michael Sparks.

On January 6, 2021, obsessive supporters of the then-ousted U.S. President, Donald Trump, invaded the Capitol in Washington while Congress was in session, aiming to obstruct the official validation of Joe Biden's election victory. At least five people lost their lives, and 140 police officers were injured during the Capitol invasion. These events marked a dark day in U.S. democratic history.

Trump incited supporters

For weeks, Trump spread the fraudulent claim of his electoral robbery by a significant number of voter manipulations. Just before the Capitol invasion, the right-wing populist urged his supporters in a speech to march towards the Capitol and "fight like hell."

Sparks, who was found guilty of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in March, was the primary Trump supporter to gain entry into the congressional building on January 6, 2021, according to investigators. Sparks served as a catalyst for the demonstrators who followed him, as testified by a police officer in the Washington trial.

Over 1,400 individuals have been charged due to their participation in the Capitol invasion. Former President Trump himself faces four charges related to the January 6, 2021, events. However, a decision may not be reached before the November presidential election, as Trump is again running as a Republican candidate.

Following Trump's incitement, Sparks, a supporter from Kentucky, became the first individual to breach the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. This act inspired numerous others to join him, contributing to the chaos during the demonstration aimed at obstructing Biden's election validation.
