Brandenburg: its name referenced. - Intoxicated drivers found behind the wheel of a Flixbus vehicle, prompting passengers to dial emergency services.

On May 28th, two Flixbus drivers were accused of showing up for work drunk. A group of around 30, including a French school class, were making their way from Berlin to Paris when one passenger noticed something seemed off from the get-go. During the journey, the driver in question became increasingly erratic, with one woman comparing his behavior to that of someone searching through a pocket aimlessly.

Other passengers, such as the French teacher accompanying the school group, attempted to have the driver stop the bus, but to no avail. Fearful of their safety, a fellow traveler decided to call the police and notify them of the situation.

At 9:40 p.m., the drunk driver eventually stopped at a rest area. Moments later, law enforcement arrived. A police spokesperson for the Western division stated that the passengers' concerns were indeed valid, as the driver had a breath alcohol level of 1.24%. His colleague, who had been in the trunk of the bus, registered at 1.09%.

Both drivers, according to the rules, were not fit to be working since there's no tolerance for bus drivers in this situation. The zero-alcohol policy must be adhered to in long-distance and transit services. A spokesperson for Brandenburg's emergency services confirmed the events to "t-online."

A replacement bus picked the passengers up after approximately two hours and brought them back to Berlin. Sebastian Meyer, a Flixbus spokesman, spoke to "Bild," confirming the drivers' suspension and their dismissal from Flixbus. The company that employed the drivers also terminated their employment.

Moreover, the situation made the passengers more anxious due to their memory of another Flixbus accident that occurred in March. The terrible incident involved a Flixbus veering off the A9. The police, at the time, reported four fatalities, six critical injuries, and 29 passengers with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is still being investigated. Several passengers remembered witnessing a fight between the drivers during examinations.
