Federal Police - International wanted murderer arrested at border control

The Federal Police arrested a convicted murderer at a border control in Frankfurt (Oder), who was being sought with an international arrest warrant. The officers checked the 45-year-old man in the afternoon at the Stadtbrucke crossing, according to the Federal Police. He presented a valid Polish passport.

During the check, it was discovered that an international arrest warrant issued by the Turkish authorities was in effect against the man born in Turkey. According to the arrest warrant, the suspect was legally convicted in Turkey in April 2007 for attempted murder and in October 2009 for murder by the Turkish judicial authorities. He now faces extradition to Turkey.

The man, wanted for murder in Turkey, was previously residing in Poland, as suggested by his Polish passport. This border control incident in Frankfurt (Oder) involved entry control carried out by the Federal Police. The concerns about criminality led the Turkish authorities to issue an arrest warrant, which was discovered during the border control process.
