International Organization seeks to carry on collaborations with Taliban leadership

Despite the stringent moral codes enforced by the Taliban in Afghanistan, the United Nations will persist in collaborating with them. According to UN representative Stéphane Dujarric in New York, the UN will carry on working alongside all parties in Afghanistan, including the Taliban. As per the new regulations, women are prohibited from displaying their faces in public or expressing themselves verbally.

The UN voiced its disapproval of these new regulations. The leader of the UN's mission in Afghanistan, UNAMA, Roza Otunbayeva, expressed concern last weekend, stating that the laws portrayed a disquieting vision for Afghanistan's future, intensifying the current unfair limitations on women's and girls' freedoms even further. Consequently, the Taliban broke ties with UNAMA on Friday. Dujarric affirmed that the UN would carry on its operations in Afghanistan, adhering to the mandate set by the Security Council.

The UN expressed its disapproval of the regulations also, emphasizing their detrimental impact on women's rights. Despite the Taliban's decision to cut ties with UNAMA, Dujarric reiterated that the UN would continue its operations, following the guidelines provided by the Security Council.
