Intentional fire-setting at an Austrian care facility for the mentally ill

Following a blaze at a refugee center in Austria, authorities are contemplating arson as the cause. The Upper Austrian state police disclosed this information. The historic inn in Schönau, situated within the Mühlkreis district, went up in flames during the transition from Monday night to Tuesday morning.

The building housed 16 residents and an additional guest. The fire started on the ground level and swiftly progressed to the attic. Thankfully, everyone in the premises was able to evacuate beforehand. Six individuals were transported to the hospital due to suspected smoke exposure.

Inspections by experts revealed three distinct arson sites. At present, there's no sign of a political or discriminatory motive behind the incident, as reported by the police.

The experts examining the site found evidence of fires with an other particular pattern, of circular cross-section. The authorities are considering that the arsonist may have used specific tools or methods to initiate the fires.
