Intense heat settles in.

By June, the scorching heat from Mediterranean countries will soon make its way towards the north. In the eastern and southeastern regions of Germany, temperatures will soar at the start of next week. However, don't get too excited as this wonderful summer weather will only last for a short while.

With the sheepskin jacket making a comeback this year, it seems the clock is ticking on June's tour. Upon hearing whispers of summer's arrival, we can't help but anticipate a delightful respite from the harsh winter. By next week, some regions in Germany are expected to sizzle with temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees. But, the temporary heatwave will come to a halt with the arrival of thunderstorms.

Tief "Valesca" is currently responsible for the cool and changeable conditions across Germany. Meanwhile, the folks in Greece and Turkey are battling temperatures surpassing 40 degrees. This brutal heat is forcing its way towards our neck of the woods. Although it won't hit the whole nation, the east and southeast of Germany are expected to savor these hot summer days.

Up until now, temperatures above 30 degrees were unheard of in the east this year. The only day they witnessed such temperatures was April 6th in the village of Ohlsbach, Baden-Württemberg, making it the earliest such day in the records. Since then, the summer has been relatively quiet. But oh boy, look out! Summer is back, if just for a brief moment.

In the western and northern sectors, it'll be a pleasant 24 degrees on a Saturday. However, there are still occasional showers foreshadowing the unpredictable weather. If the sun manages to pierce through the clouds a bit longer, 25 degrees of summer warmth can be experienced. And get ready, because Sunday promises to be a hot day in many regions. The western, northwestern, and Alpine regions will receive showers, but the sun will be the eventual winner as it shines its way into warming these regions.

Thunderstorms loom on Wednesday

As we dive further into the week, Monday will witness a slight temperature boost. However, the humidity will cause a series of heavy, thunderstorm-like showers and thunderstorms, especially in the north and west. The southern and eastern parts of the country, however, will experience plenty of sun and a very warm to hot climate with minimal thunderstorm risks.

But, brace yourselves for a dramatic weather shift. A new low-pressure system is anticipated to approach the country from the west, bringing a cold front along with it. When Warm air and cold air meet, thunderstorms are often the result. By Wednesday, the blissful summer vibes will vanish in the east and southeast, replaced by heavy thunderstorms.

The situation might evolve into a state of chaos. The probability of strong winds and even tornados is anticipated to rise – Wednesday may mark a day bursting with thunderstorms and a high degree of danger. While it may still be premature to provide specifics, those with outdoor plans on Wednesday should have a plan B at the ready. On this particular Wednesday, Germany's national soccer team is dueling Hungary in the second round of group-stage matches in Stuttgart at 18:00.
