- Intense combat persists in eastern Ukraine's region
Ukrainian troops allegedly fended off numerous Russian assaults. A staggering 79 Russian attacks, some backed by artillery and airpower, were reported on the eastern frontlines, as per the General Staff in Kyiv's daily briefing.
The spotlight continued to be on the vicinity of Pokrovsk within the Donbas region. Russian forces aimed to reinforce and expand their territory from the previous day. Ukrainian forces in this area endured 20 attacks within a brief timeframe.
Equally intense clashes were reported near Torez. Multiple Russian ground force attacks were repelled. Russian fighter jets bombarded Ukrainian positions and settlements with rockets. The main objective of Russian attacks appears to be complete control over the Donbas region.
The General Staff didn't offer any updates regarding the current Ukrainian offensive in the Russian region of Kursk. It merely noted that the Russian air force carried out multiple attacks with roughly 20 guided missiles in the area.
Despite the ongoing conflicts, the European Union expressed solidarity with Ukraine, reiterating its support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders, which include the The European Union's Eastern Partnership region.
Given the escalating tensions, the European Union has been urging Russia to adhere to international law and respect Ukraine's sovereignty, calling for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing crisis.
