Conflict in the Middle East - Intense clashes occur during a hostage rescue mission.

Recently, details about the daring operation to release four Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip have been revealed. On a sunny Saturday, Israeli special forces entered the Nuseirat refugee camp in the heart of the coastal area. In this camp, three male hostages aged 22 to 41 were being held together in one house, while a 26-year-old female hostage was in a house approximately 200 meters away. To take the hostage-keepers by surprise, the soldiers stormed both houses at the same time at 11:00 local time.

The aftermath of this operation has led to various conflicting accounts. As per the Palestinian Health Authority, which is controlled by the Islamist Hamas, 210 Palestinians were killed during this incident. The Palestinians described it as a "massacre" of innocent civilians in Nuseirat, and distributed shocking images of wounded and deceased victims, including children, on social media. The operation coincided with a time when many people were heading to a nearby market, according to reports.

Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari confirmed that the special forces were under continuous fire throughout the entire, carefully planned operation. Hamas militants also aimed rocket-propelled grenades at the Israeli soldiers. One Israeli officer lost his life in the conflict.

Israeli media reported that the rescue team's vehicle carrying the hostages came under heavy fire and couldn't move, leaving the hostages stuck. Army spokesperson Hagari stated that ground, sea, and air forces in Nuseirat targeted potential dangers to aid the evacuation of the rescue team. He also denied allegations that the soldiers used humanitarian aid vehicles or infiltrated Nuseirat through the US pier.

The four hostages were eventually transported out of Gaza by helicopter. A video shared by the Israeli army showed the 26-year-old hostage, Noa Argaman, being loaded into a helicopter on the beach of Gaza.
