Parties - Insa survey: Wagenknecht party makes gains
The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) can gain further ground in an INSA survey and currently stands at nine percent. This represents a one percentage point gain in the survey for "Bild am Sonntag" compared to the previous week, and is the highest value measured by the research institute for the party, which was only founded in January. Wagenknecht's former party, The Left, continues to decline and is now at two percent (minus one point). In the ZDF-"Politbarometer" survey released on Friday, the BSW stands at seven percent and The Left at three percent.
Union remains strongest
The Union remains the strongest force in the INSA survey, unchanged, with 30 percent. The AfD follows in second place with 17 percent, the SPD with 15 percent, and the Greens with 12 percent, whose values also remain stable. The FDP gains one point and stands at six percent. The Free Voters are also at two percent, and other parties combine for seven percent.
INSA interviewed 1203 people for the survey. The institute gives a statistical error tolerance of 2.9 percentage points for the results.
Surveys are generally associated with uncertainties. Factors such as declining party loyalty and increasingly short-term election decisions make it difficult for research institutes to weigh the data. In general, surveys only reflect public opinion at the time of the survey and are not predictions of the election outcome.
The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance, with its recent gain in the INSA survey, is now more popular in Germany than The Left, their former party, which has seen a decline. The BSW and The Left both had higher scores in the ZDF-"Politbarometer" survey, with the BSW at seven percent and The Left at three percent. The Left, previously a significant force in German politics, is currently struggling at just two percent in the INSA survey.
