Individuals in Germany typically sleep for a duration of eight hours and thirty-seven minutes each day.

In 2022, data from the Federal Statistical Office's time use survey revealed that the average German, aged ten and up, snoozes for approximately 8 hours and 37 minutes daily. This figure includes sleep during sick days, vacations, and weekends. Interestingly, during weekends and holidays, the average sleep duration was found to be 9 hours and 15 minutes - nearly an hour more than the weekday average of 8 hours and 20 minutes.

Notably, couples with children in the household were found to catch less Zs, averaging just 8 hours and 15 minutes each day. This is 19 minutes less than their childless counterparts. Single parents managed around 8 hours and 22 minutes, which is a 10-minute sleep deficit compared to singles without kids.

Age seems to play a role in sleep duration as well. The average sleep time decreases with advancing years and rises again in retired age. In 2022, it was observed that juveniles under 18 slept the most, averaging 9 hours and 42 minutes. In contrast, 18- to 29-year-olds were snoozing about an hour less per day, at 8 hours and 47 minutes. The sleep duration for those aged 30 to 44, as well as those between 45 and 64, was found to be almost half an hour shorter still, both clocking in at 8 hours and 20 minutes. The older generation, aged 65 and above, slept as long as their younger counterparts, averaging 8 hours and 46 minutes daily.
