Individual maintains an individual in a filthy pigpen for prolonged periods.
A man in Poland is facing serious accusations of keeping a woman imprisoned in a pigsty for over five years. This 35-year-old individual is alleged to have subjected the woman to continuous rape, physical abuse, and mental torture. The shocking news was brought to light when the victim, who is five years younger, was hospitalized due to her injuries.
The Polish news channel "Polsat News" reports that the perpetrator, identified as Mateusz J., is under investigation for particularly cruel acts of violence. The woman was allegedly held captive in a small room within the pigsty in the village of Gaika, located in western Poland. The two reportedly met on an online dating site in 2019.
The small room, measuring three by three meters, was reportedly secured with a lock and lacked basic necessities such as windows, hygiene products, water, electricity, and a functional toilet.
"I couldn't speak the truth to the doctors"
The alleged victim was taken to the hospital numerous times with broken bones, but she remained silent due to the intense intimidation by her tormentor. According to "Polsat News", she gave birth to a child in a hospital at some point, which was subsequently put up for adoption. The doctors in the clinics didn't seem to notice any signs of foul play, and the woman herself was too terrified to speak out. "I couldn't tell the doctors the truth. I was scared because he threatened me that things would get worse if I complained," she told Myglogow.pl. She also had no idea of her location. "He covered my head with a hood so I couldn't see where we lived when he took me to the clinic. The same thing happened when he took me out in the evenings to clean me up."
It was during her visit to the hospital in August due to a dislocated shoulder that the medical staff raised the alarm to the authorities. The extent of her older injuries left them shocked.
Unaware parents
Allegedly, despite living near the stable, the parents of the accused claimed to have no knowledge of the crime. The mother of Mateusz J. told the Polish portal "MyGlow" that they "didn't hear anything, didn't see anything." She added that her son was a "good boy."
The case is still under investigation, and authorities have issued a search warrant. They are reportedly seeking an arrest warrant. If found guilty, the man could face up to 25 years in prison. The village of Gaiki is about 90 kilometers northwest of Wroclaw (formerly Breslau).
The alleged victim's silence in the hospital was due to the perpetrator's threat of increased violence if she spoke out about the sexualized violence she had endured. The woman was subjected to repeated instances of sexualized violence alongside physical and mental torture while being captive.
