Incident at a Houston-adjacent petrochemical facility results in one fatality and numerous injuries, authorities reveal.
"Got word about the chemical spill at the Pemex plant in Deer Park," shared Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo in a statement. "Currently, there's news of at least one deceased individual and several wounded at the site."
Residents of Deer Park are encouraged to stay indoors as emergency services tackle the situation.
"Keep yourselves indoors, seal up windows and doors, turn off the AC, and stay put until an 'all clear' signal is given," suggested the city's Emergency Management Office to local residents.
Initial intel suggests an "unidentified chemical emission," as reported by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
This story is still in progress and is subject to updates.
