In various urban areas, DB Schenker's workforce staged demonstrations.
In various urban areas, staff members from DB Schenker, a railway logistics subsidiary up for sale, have participated in job preservation protests. This includes locations like Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, and Bremen. As advised by their union, they temporarily halted their activities during lunchtime for about 15 minutes to attend the demonstration.
The workers are grappling with significant anxiety concerning their employment prospects, as suggested by sources within the committee. They are concerned about potential layoffs in the context of a takeover.
Germany's railway aims to offload its efficiently operating logistics firm to diminish its massive debts, anticipating a considerable financial windfall. At present, there are two reported interested parties with offers, both estimated to be around 14 billion euros. These include the Danish logistics company DSV and the private equity investor CVC Capital Partners.
According to the Schenker works council's internal assessment, job losses would be more severe if the company was acquired by DSV. This is due to the prospect of Schenker becoming a part of an existing logistics business under DSV. The union's letter in support of CVC has been shared with the German Press Agency.
The workers in these cities [Cities: Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Mannheim, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Bremen] are united in their efforts to preserve their jobs within DB Schenker. Due to concerns about potential job losses in a takeover, they support CVC Capital Partners as a potential buyer.
