A nine-year-old girl has been missing in Döbeln, Saxony since Monday. The initial search in her immediate surroundings has turned up no results. Now, authorities are extending their search even into other countries.

An official from the Chemnitz Police Directorate informed that they are amplifying the search efforts for Valeriia, a girl from Döbeln. On Wednesday, they focused on questioning neighbors and conducting a detailed search in the area. But as of now, they are intensifying their field work. The number of officers involved in the operation has increased from 70 to 300.

The authorities emphasized that they are turning the investigation around. Neighbors will also be questioned again, focusing on her school route this time. In addition, they plan to use a helicopter to search the banks and shores of the Mulde River. So far, there seems to be no major lead.

The family of the missing girl hails from Ukraine, and the police are in contact with their Ukrainian counterparts. Valeria's father, who is also Ukrainian, appears to be residing in Ukraine.

The girl was last seen on Monday morning around 6:50 am, when she was en route to school. However, she failed to show up at school. The police are urging the public to keep a lookout for any signs of her in their gardens, homes, garages, or storage spaces. The authorities are pursuing all possible leads, and a violent crime can't be ruled out.

Here's a description of Valeriia:

  • Approximately 1.40 meters tall
  • Medium-length, dark blonde hair
  • Last seen wearing a light pink T-shirt and a light turquoise jacket, black jeans pants, and dark blue ankle-high shoes
  • Carrying a pink backpack
  • Speaks only broken German

If you have any information about her whereabouts, please contact the authorities. Their efforts are being conducted from all angles, and every little bit of help counts.
