In the UK, two 12-year-olds have been convicted of killing a 19-year-old individual.

A court in Nottingham, England recently convicted two 12-year-olds of murdering a 19-year-old man. The guilty verdict was reached by a unanimous vote after a one-month trial. These two boys are now considered the youngest murderers in Britain in over three decades.

Shawn Seesahai, a 19-year-old from the British overseas territory of Anguilla, was visiting Britain for a medical treatment for a grey star. He was found dead in a park in Wolverhampton city along with his friends. The two young assailants were believed to have encountered Seesahai and his friends during this time.

As per the court's verdict, Seesahai was first hit on the shoulder by one of the attackers. The perpetrators eventually switched to stabbing and ended up killing him. One of the boys was reportedly known to carry a machete with a 42-centimeter-long blade. The police uncovered the cleaned knife underneath the other attacker's bed.

The boys, who denied the crime, may also hold the title for being the youngest criminals in Britain ever to be convicted of murder using a stabbing weapon. The sentencing will occur at a later date.

Children in England and Wales are deemed criminally responsible from the age of ten. These minors are treated differently than adults in the legal system, being housed in specialized institutions for their imprisonment.

There has been a notable increase in violent incidents involving stabbing weapons in Britain. In 2023, around 50,000 such incidents were reported, an increase of 7% from the number reported in 2022.
