In South Tyrol, an individual takes the lives of his spouse and ailing father.
In South Tyrol, a fella took the life of a woman and his senior, reliant relative. Reports by Italian news source ANSA stated this occurred in Innichen, where he holed up in a flat equipped with a firearm, causing a stir that lasted numerous hours. The local cops, equipped for such situations, busted into the place come morning. Upon entering, the man decided to point the gun at himself and pull the trigger, injuring himself severely according to ANSA.
Innichen, a well-frequented tourist hotspot in the High Pustertal, witnessed heightened vigilance in the morning. Residents were advised to stay tucked indoors thanks to a civil warning that eventually got lifted. The close vicinity of the town's train station was sealed off, forcing a halt to all train and bus journeys.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman had been murdered during the previous night on Saturday. She was allegedly a neighbor to the suspect. Her body was discovered in the stairwell of the building housing the apartment. Fire and law enforcement soon arrived on the scene, only to have the man open fire at them and barricade himself inside.
Upon storming the apartment, the men in uniform found the father's remains. South Tyrolean news outlets claim he was a retired hunter, and the weapon used in the incident reportedly belonged to him.
The man accused of the double homicide lived in the same building as the deceased woman. Despite the dangerous situation, the local authorities managed to rescue him from the apartment.
