The over 20-meter-long motor yacht allegedly carried on its journey following the collision with the approximately 3-meter-long fishing boat close to Cala Bona on a Friday evening, as reported by nearby tabloids "Mallorca Zeitung" and "Mallorca Magazin". The yacht was later found docked in Porto Cristo, and its captain was subjected to investigation.
At first, a police spokesperson refrained from disclosing the captain's identity, citing the ongoing investigation. Negligent homicide and failure to provide aid are the suspected charges, as stated in the news articles.
Recently, accusations of a Mallorcan taxi driver being brutally assaulted to the point of hospitalization by a crew of German police officers sparked public outrage. According to dpa sources, these officers, hailing from Essen, were enjoying their vacation together in Mallorca and were implicated in the incident. However, all the officers were given permission to return to Germany.
