In DR Congo, 38 lives were claimed by an Islamist attack, according to authorities.
In a raid on settlements in the Congo's Democratic Republic, it's believed that militants identified as Islamists have murdered 38 individuals. Equipped with firearms and machetes, men targeted civilians from villages in the Beni region of North Kivu province late last night, according to a local administrative figure.
Another local spokesperson pinned the blame on a group known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which earlier in the week was allegedly responsible for the murder of 16 people in an attack on another village. ADF, with members connected to the militant group Islamic State, has conducted previous assaults and hails from nearby Uganda. The Congo shares its borders with another nearby country, the Republic of Congo.
