In Alsace, investigators find trace of missing Lina
In the search for the 15-year-old Lina, who has been missing for ten months in Alsace, the investigators have made a breakthrough. The Gendarmerie identified a car that had been present at the scene at the time of the teenager's disappearance, the Prosecutor's Office in Strasbourg announced. DNA traces of the juvenile were secured in the stolen car.
The investigation now focuses on the circumstances under which the teenager entered this car. The Prosecutor's Office expressed confidence that this breakthrough would facilitate locating Lina. They did not comment on any arrests or suspects.
The 15-year-old went missing on September 23 of the previous year on a three-kilometer long footpath to the Saint-Blaise-la-Roche train station. She intended to go to Strasbourg to see her boyfriend but did not arrive there. Two witnesses saw her on her way to the station. However, the investigators know that she did not get on the train. Extensive but so far fruitless search efforts were made, with the German police participating occasionally.
Based on witness statements, the investigators had been looking for various types of cars in the course of the search for Lina. Then, this car came into focus of the investigation, which the police had kept to themselves so far.
The breakthrough in the investigation spurred the investigators to delve further into the circumstances of Lina entering the identified car. This car, with DNA traces of Lina, could potentially provide crucial leads in locating the missing teenager. Despite the significant development, no arrests or suspects have been formally announced yet.
