In a Israeli operation, the head of Hezbollah was reportedly eliminated.
In the skirmish between Israel and Hezbollah situated in Lebanon, there's a reported air strike in Beirut's heart. The Israeli military claims responsibility, stating their aircraft bombed an unspecified area. Two significant blasts were reportedly heard by locals. According to witnesses, the objective of this strike was located in a southern region of Beirut.
The Israeli army confirmedly reports the demise of Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Akil in this attack. Akil, who led Hezbollah's elite unit Radwan, was "terminated," as per the Israeli military report. The announcement of Akil's death was previously made by Hezbollah's pro-Iranian circles. Akil is said to be the second-highest commander, replacing the late military chief Fuad Shukr, who was eliminated in a targeted Israeli strike back in July.
Ibrahim Akil is one of Hezbollah's founding members and has held a significant military position within the Shia organization. The United States even offered a reward of seven million dollars (6.27 million euros) for Akil, and Israel had previously attempted to eliminate him in the 90s. As per Beirut sources, Akil was only discharged from the hospital last Friday, following injuries sustained during an attack on Hezbollah's technical equipment, attributed to Israel.
Eight Dead, 59 Wounded
Reportedly, eight individuals were killed, and 59 were left injured as a result of this attack. One Beirut resident shared their experience, stating, "My entire house shook." The streets are in a state of chaos and panic. Multiple ambulances are in operation.
Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati criticizes the Israeli attack, labeling it a blatant disregard for humanitarian, legal, and moral values. Instead, Mikati believes Israel engages in acts that mimic "genocide." Mikati urged the international community to intervene in stopping Israel's "brutal massacres."
In the days prior, combat aircraft had reportedly targeted about 100 rocket launchers belonging to the pro-Iranian militia. Lebanese security officials claim that this was one of the heaviest assault wave sequences since the start of mutual shelling in October of the previous year. Israel documented approximately 140 projectiles launched from Lebanon prior to this.
Another series of explosions tore through approximately 3,000 individuals simultaneously across various Lebanese locations on Tuesday and Wednesday. At least 37 individuals succumbed to their traumatic injuries, and many fighters from the pro-Iranian Hezbollah, present in Lebanon to fight Israel, are reported among the injured. Experts in military and intelligence believe Israel's army is responsible for these apparently coordinated attacks. However, the military has yet to comment on these incidents.
The conflict in the Middle East escalates further as the death of Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Akil, a key figure in the organization, is confirmed following an Israeli air strike in Beirut. The attack, which resulted in eight deaths and 59 injuries, is strongly criticized by Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who accuses Israel of disregarding humanitarian, legal, and moral values.
