IG Metall demands seven percent wage increase

The IG Metall demands a wage increase of seven percent for approximately 3.9 million employees in the metal and electrical industry during the upcoming collective bargaining round. Trainees should receive an additional 170 Euros, moreover, the union is pushing for a social component and greater recognition in working hours, the IG Metall announced on Tuesday after a board meeting.

This demand is justified for the situation of employees and companies and is urgently needed, said IG Metall chairwoman Christiane Benner. "Our colleagues and the economy need a decent plus and thus good prospects." The collective bargaining round begins in September.

The metal industry workers, represented by IG Metall, are seeking a seven percent wage increase during the upcoming collective bargaining round. This demand includes a higher wage for trainees by 170 Euros. Furthermore, IG Metall advocates for a stronger social component and improved recognition in working hours.
