construction work - ICE-Highway Cologne-Frankfurt closed from Tuesday
Important ICE high-speed rail track between Cologne and Frankfurt will be closed starting Tuesday for nearly four weeks due to construction work. According to railway announcements, travelers should expect delays and disruptions between 40 and 90 minutes. The trains will be rerouted, eliminating stops at Siegburg/Bonn, Montabaur, and Limburg Sud. They can be reached via bus replacement services.
During these four weeks, approximately 70 kilometers of tracks and 13 switches will be renewed along the route. Originally, the closure was planned until August 16th.
Due to the railway closure between Cologne and Frankfurt, tourists planning to visit Hesse may encounter increased traffic on alternative routes. Despite the construction work in North Rhine-Westphalia, the ICE trains will still serve areas like Hesse, albeit with possible extended journey times.
