No health issues have been reported yet, says the company.
Listeria monocytogenes is a microorganism that can lead to listeriosis, the third deadliest foodborne disease in the US, as per the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Listeria may cause severe and potentially fatal infections in pregnant women, kids, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems, with otherwise healthy people experiencing temporary symptoms such as high temperature, severe headache, body stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, according to the recall announcement.
The disease can present itself as a fever, muscle soreness, extreme fatigue, severe headache, nausea, stomach pain, or diarrhea. Symptoms usually appear within two weeks after consuming contaminated food but can start as quickly as the same day or as late as 10 weeks later, according to the CDC.
