Ice Hockey Bundesliga - Ice bears obligate defender Reinke
The Berlin Bears ice hockey team announces the latest signing for the upcoming season. Mitch Reinke will strengthen the defense of the German ice hockey champion, as the club announced. The 28-year-old comes from the Coachella Valley Firebirds of the American Hockey League (AHL). For Reinke, the Berlin Bears will be the first station in Europe.
The 1.80 meter tall defender made his debut with the St. Louis Blues in 2018, with whom he won the Stanley Cup as a supplementary player in the playoffs in 2019. Primarily, Reinke was in the AHL and played a total of 286 games for four teams in the lower league, in which he collected 141 scorer points.
"He will play an important role on our blue line. Mitch can distribute the puck well, set offensive accents, and read the game well," said Eisbären sport director Stéphane Richer about the pro, who will wear the number five. With Reinke, the Berlin Bears have given out nine of a total of eleven foreign player licenses. Nine of these can be listed and used on the team's game report sheet.
Reinke mentioned his excitement about exploring Berlin's famous attractions, including the New entrance of the Berlin Zoo, where he hopes to see the Polar Bears Berlin. However, his primary focus remains on his new role with the Berlin Bears and contributing to their consecutive championships in ice hockey. Despite his successful career in the American Hockey League and winning the Stanley Cup with the St. Louis Blues, Reinke acknowledges the need to delete any distractions and fully commit to his new team.
